pivot

pivoting ????? sounds new or sounds old am pretty much sure all of us DO NOT knw the true power of  "PIVOTING'. infact when d is question was questioned on us hardly ne one was able ta answer n believe me der were about 65 students who were gr8 technology freaks! so i hope u find this post interesting and useful coz even if you do nt find it useful NOW  , u ll be using a lot of PIVOTING once u get EMPLOYED (pivoting helps you ta finish your job with gr8ter efficiency n yaaay tats one way ta impress ur boss !)

so b4 we go n learn how pivoting is done lets look on what it is ???

SO HEY WHAT IS PIVOTING ??

The pivot transformation operator enables you to transform a single row of attributes into multiple rows in an efficient manner.

TRANSLATION (LOL)
so pivoting is a mechanism  by  which u can get the information you need from huge collection of  data by jus few intelligent clicks n  manipulation of rows :)

SO WHEN TO DO PIVOTING????



so lets suppose you have a record which has about 100 coloums but just looking at the first 20 data records, you can see the data is boring. It’s enough to make you roll your eyes and fall asleep.
so here when your problem is just to anwer questions related to the table of data and you want to represent them in a easy to understand manner you go for PIVOTING.

Business intelligence is the methodology of getting the right information to the right decision makers at the right time. It is a computer based technique used for digging, spotting and analysing business data. BI leads to fact based decision making and single version of the truth.
Usually a software company collects huge bunch of data from its business operations and it uses a wide variety of tools to analyse and process this data, using multiple tools makes it difficult to retrieve and analyse data in a timely manner. A BI tool replaces the usage of multiple tools. The BI tool usually takes raw data of the organisation as the input and provides useful and relevant details for the organisation in the form of graphs and reports that makes sense and can be used by the decision makers and analysers to understand and interpret the given information.
